This day of love originates from a Roman festival called\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lupercalia\"><strong>Lupercalia<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0which marked the beginning of spring.\u00a0During the joyous festival, the boys would draw names of girls from a box. Festivities would be in full swing and they would be boyfriend and girlfriend. Sometimes they would get married! At\u00a0the end of the 5th\u00a0century, the Lupercalia festival was replaced by the celebration of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Saint_Valentine\"><strong>Saint Valentine<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Who is Saint Valentine?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>There are several stories about who <strong>St Valentine<\/strong>\u00a0was. The popular belief is that he was a priest from Rome in the third century AD.\u00a0St Valentine was\u00a0a secret arranger of marriages.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Claudius\"><strong>Emperor Claudius<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0had banned marriage because he thought married men were bad soldiers. As a consequence, he was thrown into jail and sentenced to death. While in jail St Valentine fell in love with the jailer&#8217;s daughter and was killed on the 14th\u00a0of February.<\/p>\n<p>Saint Valentine sent a farewell letter to his love signed\u00a0<em>\u201c<strong>from your Valentine<\/strong>\u201d.<\/em>\u00a0Valentine\u2019s Day flowers began as a tradition in the 17th\u00a0century. Roses represent love in all forms and were the choice of flowers for the day. The rose is the favourite flower of Venus, the Goddess of Love, it stands for strong feelings. Falling in love and being in<strong> love is magical<\/strong>. Recognising that you are falling in love is simple. Feeling like a high in comparison, it\u2019s\u00a0said to feel the same effect on the brain as eating chocolate. Feeling love is like a duvet, it wraps you up keeping you warm and protected. Daydreaming, loss of appetite and silly smiling are all signs that you have love in your heart.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The Importance of Self-Love<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The <strong>hardest relationship<\/strong> any of us will ever have is the relationship we have with <strong>ourselves<\/strong>.
