We are all feeling that little bit tenser. So why not try and alleviate some of that feeling?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meditation is great for <strong>relaxation<\/strong> and <strong>developing<\/strong> the openness of the mind. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I thought I would share my thoughts on the different kinds of meditation I have tried over the years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3584\" src=\"https:\/\/blog-origin.psychictoday.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/meditation-guide_large-1024x563.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"563\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Sammie&#8217;s Meditation Guide<\/h2>\n<p>Sammie Aurora telling us all about how she meditates and how to get started. <strong>Watch to the end<\/strong> for a guided mediation!<\/p>\n<style>.embed-container { position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.25%; height: 0; overflow: hidden; max-width: 100%; } .embed-container iframe, .embed-container object, .embed-container embed { position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%; }<\/style>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><ul class=\"bxslider-vid\"><li><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LH_YCMnWgpw\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/li><\/ul><\/div>\n<h2><strong>Guided Meditation<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Maybe the best place to start, you don\u2019t have to do anything. Just <strong>sit<\/strong> or <strong>lie down<\/strong> and <strong>listen<\/strong> to a relaxing track as someone whispers words of positivity and calm into your ears. My favourite guided mediation is from <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Esther_Hicks\"><strong>Abraham-Hicks<\/strong><\/a>.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0It\u2019s a series called <em>&#8216;<strong>Getting Into The Vortex&#8217;<\/strong><\/em>. They are just 15 minutes long, and you can listen to the meditations morning or evening.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Mantra Meditation<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You may have heard of the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Transcendental_Meditation\"><strong>Transcendental Meditation<\/strong><\/a> movement. The <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Maharishi_Mahesh_Yogi\"><strong>Maharishi Mahesh Yogi<\/strong><\/a> founded the organisation. He taught <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Beatles\"><strong>The Beatles<\/strong><\/a> how to meditate. They have a school worldwide; you can pay a tier-based fee to be taught meditation by a practitioner and join the community. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you want to try <strong>mantra meditation<\/strong> on your own, try closing your eyes, take a few deep breaths then start repeating the word <em>\u2018<strong>Satnam<\/strong>\u2019<\/em> in your mind. It means <em>\u2018<strong>truth is my name<\/strong>.\u2019<\/em> Just try to relax as you repeat the mantra in your mind.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Any thoughts popping up, notice them and come back to the mantra. It should be effortless. You can do it for <strong>10 minutes<\/strong> or <strong>20 minutes<\/strong>, whatever you have time for. I find this mediation like defragmentation for the mind.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6079\" src=\"https:\/\/psychictoday.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/meditation-shutterstock_1139537771.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"668\" \/><\/h2>\n<h2><strong>Mindfulness<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mindfulness is effortless. It&#8217;s just about <strong>being present in the moment<\/strong>. You can practice mindfulness whilst doing the washing up. Pay attention to the sounds, sensations, colours. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Being present with what you are doing get you grounded at the moment. Mindfulness can be practised in any situation, while you have a walk or eating a chocolate bar. Let\u2019s all do that. <strong>Mindfully eating chocolate<\/strong>!<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Morning Pages<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This, for me, is like an active meditation. I adopted the exercise from a book called <strong>The Artist&#8217;s Way<\/strong>. The first thing I do in the morning (after I get my coffee!) is pen to page. I write three pages of whatever pops into my mind. I don\u2019t stop. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If I can\u2019t think of anything, I write, <em>\u201c<strong>Oh, I can\u2019t think of anything<\/strong>\u201d,<\/em> then my thoughts will start flowing again. It\u2019s like a morning brain drain. I have been writing these pages now for a couple of years. It sets me up nicely for the day. I really recommend the book<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Artist%27s_Way\"><strong> The Artist&#8217;s Way <\/strong><\/a>by<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Julia_Cameron\"><strong> Julia Cameron<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6080\" src=\"https:\/\/psychictoday.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/meditation-shutterstock_559454563.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"615\" \/><\/h2>\n<h2>Thank You For Reading!<\/h2>\n<p>So there, you have <strong>four different kinds<\/strong> of meditation. <strong>Plus my video<\/strong>!
