So by his definition, I am more than a bit bonkers. If you\u2019ve ever felt like you are going around in circles in your relationships, this could be due to unconscious patterns.<\/p>\n<p>Examples of patterns could be giving more than we\u2019re getting, seeking validation outside of ourselves, accepting <strong>sex<\/strong> when we want to <strong>love<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>You could be in a relationship, and coming up against the same problems, or you could be <strong>single<\/strong> but always <strong>attracting<\/strong> the same kinds of men.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-4035\" src=\"https:\/\/blog-origin.psychictoday.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/relationships_large-1024x563.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"563\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\">Awareness and Light<\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Consciousness<\/strong> means <strong>awareness<\/strong>. It means living in the light, but also shining that light into the darkness. Carl Jung believed everyone has a shadow side, part of our psyche we are unaware of.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">This is the place where our <strong>unconscious patterns<\/strong> live. Bringing these patterns into <strong>awareness<\/strong> enables us to transcend them.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">I would always attract <strong>player types<\/strong> in my twenties, it wasn\u2019t until I sat down and took stock of my history and beliefs that I realised I had an unconscious belief that all men just wanted one thing.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">I adopted it when I was a teenager, my Dad actually told me that. As an adult, I could see that he was just doing his best to <strong>keep me safe<\/strong>. I could let go of that belief.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-4038\" src=\"https:\/\/blog-origin.psychictoday.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/pair-2548153_1920-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\">Self-Enquiry<\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">So how do we go about bringing these patterns into awareness? It starts with <strong>self-enquiry<\/strong>. Get yourself a pen and paper and free-write on questions such as; <em>What were our last few arguments about?<\/em> <em>How did my past relationships end?\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">You may identify the pattern immediately, or you may just be seeing the tip of the iceberg. <strong>Dig deeper<\/strong>, what were the warning signs that the relationship wasn\u2019t working? What was going on in the lead up to the last few arguments?<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">After a string of failed attempts at <strong>healthy relationships<\/strong> with men in my twenties, I was sure of what I didn\u2019t want. Setting my intention on what I did want, I changed my perception.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">I soon attracted a relationship I did want. A conscious relationship starts with <strong>consciousness<\/strong> within ourselves. Getting clear on what we want.<\/p>\n<h2 dir=\"ltr\">In Summery<\/h2>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">We can never change another person, but we can change <strong>the way we look<\/strong> at another person by changing ourselves. There has never been a better time to do shadow work.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">We\u2019re restricted currently in what we can do, where we can go and who we can see. We still have the <strong>freedom<\/strong> to adventure within, expanding our awareness of ourselves.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">This will bring new insight to relationships past, present and future.
