Magical Dolls: Making & Working with Poppets \u2013 By Rafael<\/h1>\n

Introduction to Magical Dolls<\/h2>\n

Poppets, also known as Spirit dolls<\/strong>, have been used for hundreds of years. You might be better acquainted with a Voodoo doll<\/strong><\/a>, which is another form of Poppet.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

They are made for a variety of reasons, both to attract<\/strong> and to banish<\/strong>. Also, they can be used for healing<\/strong><\/span><\/a> purposes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

You can make these dolls using a variety of different materials, such as clay<\/strong>, natural items<\/strong>, fabrics<\/strong> or whatever you have at hand.<\/span><\/p>\n

They can be big and elaborately decorated<\/strong>, or as small and simple as you need them to be.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Remember, it\u2019s not about the materials used or the size of the doll. What matters is the intention<\/strong> you hold and focus on as you\u2019re making the doll, this is what sparks magic.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

How to Make Your Doll<\/b><\/h2>\n

This is a simple way to make a Poppet, but it is not the only way! Don\u2019t be afraid to experiment<\/strong> and get creative<\/strong> with different techniques and ways of working.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

(1) Take your chosen material (you will want the colour<\/strong> to match your intention – see the list below!)<\/span><\/p>\n

(2) Draw and cut out the shape of a person<\/strong> (this doesn\u2019t have to be perfect, just the basic shape)<\/span><\/p>\n

(3) Glue or sew around the edges, combining<\/strong> the body shapes together. If sewing fabrics, why not match the colour of thread to your intention for added magic<\/strong>!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

(4) What you fill<\/strong> the doll with is up to you. Here are a few suggestions of the most common:<\/span><\/p>\n

Dried herbs<\/strong> that correspond to your intention (we will include a list at the end)<\/span><\/p>\n

Crystals<\/strong><\/span><\/a> whose energy aligns with your intention (we will include a list at the end)<\/span><\/p>\n

Nail clippings, a lock of hair, a photograph<\/strong> – if the doll is for someone else, make sure to get permission first!<\/span><\/p>\n

Don’t Forget!<\/h2>\n

*WARNING*<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Restrain from using these items in love spells<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>to target a specific person, as this can backfire and be very difficult to untangle<\/strong> yourself from later. <\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s much better to simply add your own hair\/nails\/photo and ask the Universe to bring you the right person\/relationship for you with the qualities<\/strong> you want rather than target someone specific.<\/span><\/p>\n

(5) Add a Pention<\/strong>. This is a written prayer or statement of intention<\/strong>, describing what you want the doll to achieve.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

(6) As you add each item to the doll, hold it in your hand and visualise<\/strong> the intention of what you want each item to do. After you have placed all the items inside, glue or sew up the rest of the doll.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

(7) Hold the finished doll in your hand. Whilst visualising<\/strong>, state your intention.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Your doll is now alive<\/strong> and ready<\/strong> to work!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Feeding the Dolls\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n

Every now and then it is important to \u2018feed your doll.\u2019 This means sitting with it and giving it energy<\/strong> with your attention.\u00a0<\/span>Here are some ways you can do this:<\/strong><\/p>\n
