What does Mercury Retrograde mean?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The <\/span>Mercury Retrograde<\/b> first came to prominence through mythology, <\/span>Mercury<\/b> was the <\/span>messenger<\/b><\/a> of the <\/span>Roman Gods<\/b><\/a>. These retrogrades usually last 3 weeks.<\/span><\/p>\n

The word\u00a0Retrograde<\/strong>\u00a0comes from the Latin word \u2018retrogradus<\/strong>\u2018<\/em>,\u00a0which translates as\u00a0\u201cbackward step<\/strong>.\u201d This is the term for when a planet appears to reverse its orbit, from the perspective of our planet.<\/p>\n

But of course,\u00a0Mercury<\/b><\/a> is NOT actually travelling backwards; it just appears to be<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

Imagine two planets moving side by side. One moving slower than the other, giving the appearance of moving backwards against the faster moving one!<\/p>\n

One Retrograde – Two Parts<\/h2>\n

So, with the backwards feeling<\/strong> of the Mercury Retrograde, the same thing applies to the sun signs<\/strong> that we are currently in.<\/p>\n

For example, right now, at this current point in January<\/strong>, we are in the sign of Capricorn<\/strong><\/a>. But in retrograde terms, we are already in the next sign to follow, that being Aquarius<\/strong><\/a>!<\/p>\n

Then the reversal of that happens midway through the retrograde, with Aquarius<\/strong> giving way to the previous sun sign of Capricorn<\/strong>. While the rest of us are in Aquarius! The two parts are as follows:<\/p>\n
