Death
Number: 13
Astrology: Scorpio
Contrary to popular belief, the Death card is not as ghoulish as one may think. The presence of the Grim Reaper with scythe in traditional decks is most prominent and the appearance of a skull or skeletal figure is also revealed. At times he is on a horse and there are other symbolic associations such as a banner or flag or armoury worn by the figure in the card that represents authority. When Death arrives it is hard to disregard the inevitable endings on many levels.
In Love
In its most basic sense, The Death card in a love reading can signify the ending of a partnership. Depending on which cards surround it and the position of this card, it can also reflect the need to let go of old ways and disregard outdated ideals in order for those in the relationship to grow together healthily. If this is not done, then both partners will suffocate one another's development and create resentment and stagnation. For those looking for a partnership, it may be necessary to let go of past relationships and grieve the ending of these before new life can grow strong and healthy roots.
In Work
Be prepared for work to undergo some kind of transformation. Inhibiting change will hold one back from flourishing and so nothing new can be learnt. It can highlight the need to dramatically change one's career and embark on a new work journey.
Reversed
The inability to let go of what is unfulfilling or suffocating one's growth on a spiritual level will impact on other areas of one's life. Death is a natural part of life.
