FULL MOON IN CAPRICORN JULY 9th 2017
The Full Moon is in Capricorn, on June 9, 2017. They also call this one a Full Buck Moon, owing to this being the time frame when the male deer or bucks would have their full antlers. Additionally this moon is also referred to as the Hay Moon. Because this is also the time of year when farmers are getting the hay stores put up in the barn, you may find the other name Thunder Moon is more appropriate.
Though this actually refers to this being the height of the storm season, we have an aspect at play in this Full Moon cycle that Thunder is entirely appropriate for. Though all full moons are good for culmination- the ending of cycles, this one may create the conditions for nearly explosive endings. Bearing in mind this month, Pluto, Saturn, Neptune and Chiron are all still retrograde- what we have is an intense blend.
Potential for Resentment and Hurt To Erupt With This Full Moon
I am not one for doom and gloom. So, bear in mind when I write about this particular full moon in Capricorn, I believe forewarned is forearmed. Odds are pretty good that if you’ve got some hurts you’ve buried or wounds you haven’t healed: you already know what they are. Understanding these intense planetary interactions can help you to channel these energies constructively, rather than giving in to self destructive impulses.
July’s Full Moon is in very close proximity to Pluto. The thing you have to understand about Pluto retrograde is this: when it’s retrograde, this outer planet is more intense. So, unlike Mercury retrograde which you are familiar with: this outer planet’s transformative impact can be much more powerful. Pluto transforms by way of destruction and power struggles are often a common factor. However, renewal comes after the storm.
With Chiron retrograde also dragging up possible hurts, that can be a potent enough combination. Throw in this closeness with the Full Moon in Capricorn at one degree- and emotions we thought we had buried may bubble to the surface. The aspect here is called a conjunct, and that further intensifies what we feel. It’s important to take care not to react with the full force of those emotions during this time. However, it is also important not repress your feelings. Jealous feelings may emerge due to insecurities.
These feelings, though often negative, need to be honored so they can be healed. Understand what you’re feeling and more importantly, get to the bottom of why. All too often, much of the conflict we have in respect to these things involve things we’re struggling with ourselves.

Sun Opposes Pluto
At the same time, we also have the Sun opposite Pluto. This can really drag up those insecurities we have in ourselves. They may make us more inclined towards projection. If you find that there is something in another person’s actions that gets to you- check yourself to be sure it’s not something within you, yourself. Good examples of this would be, if you’ve been unsatisfied in your relationship and even just fantasizing about cheating- you may even be tempted to do so. As a result, you are jealous and worried your partner is cheating or vice versa. Because of that Plutonian influence, there may be attempts at controlling one another, and this isn’t healthy.
You should avoid the unhealthy and self destructive behaviors and instead, utilize these intense energies to get to the bottom of the things that are hurting you.
Resisting change is another facet of this particular mix. In this, one thing to know about Pluto is this; This outer planet’s motto may well be “Let go or be dragged.” Learning to listen to one another. Learning to HEAR one another rather than being defensive and attempting to deflect the blame, is important. Meeting each other in the middle is also key. There is also a very tight aspect between the Sun and Mars at play. This could create anger and defensiveness, but also, may create hostility at suggestions of change within close relationships.
Desires to the Fore
Because Mars is also opposite Pluto, you’ll find that your desires certainly may play a role in all of this. You may feel more ready than ever to make changes. But with so many destructive energies in the mix, you may possibly go about it the wrong way. It’s very important to take the time to address and let go of those things which hurt: the anger, the resentment, and the pain. In this way you can ensure that you can begin the inner healing process in earnest. Moving forward and using this energy to change things for the better is in essence, the idea- so, do it the right way. This aspect in particular is favorable to that end. It could help you to have the strength you need to take some of those bigger steps.
Now, that’s not the only aspect at play which can help things along. We do also have Venus in a sextile with Mercury. This is almost the oddball in this intense bunch of aspects as it favors communication. Seems weird, right? You’ve got all these things pushing anger and hurt up and out- but then something that can help smooth communication out? Oh, I bet you can use that.
How To Use These Full Moon in Capricorn Aspects
All too often, I think that people gloss over the more negative emotions. We would like to pretend they don’t exist. It would be wonderful if they didn’t. However, they do and they also serve, a very important purpose in our lives. This Full Moon in Capricorn serves to let you know that your emotional pain is valid- and so, too, is the anger which is often a part of the emotional healing process.
It’s important to get to the heart of that pain and to better understand it. We must accept that things that happened to us have hurt in the past. They have made us angry. When we hold in those emotions, we also hold onto them. That harmonious aspect between Venus and Mercury can lend a softness to things. Once you get beneath the surface of the anger, there is usually fear or hurt- and, this aspect can help you to communicate that in a way that hits the mark.
Beyond that, as always: a Full Moon in Capricorn is the perfect time to take a look at those things that simply aren’t working. That no longer serve us- and this does include the resentment and pain- and finally let them go and set ourselves free.
