The Full Moon in July is named the Buck Moon. At this time of year, the young bucks start to grow their antlers. The antlers represent transformation and strength. This Full Moon, we are going to harness the transformation and strength into our own magical tool.
To create your full moon magic wand, you first need to be guided to the wood to create it from. Go for a long and leisurely walk in nature, holding the intent within your mind to be guided to a special stick. You may want to approach a tree and ask if it has a stick for you, or you may wish to look to the floor.
Ideally, the stick has fallen for some time and dried out. It is essential that the stick for your wand is gifted and not taken. Always remember to thank the tree it came from as well. In the search for materials to create your magical tools, never damage nature. Alive wood is no good as it will take time to dry and also it’s not kind to the tree.
This is the time of year when we reflect on our connection with nature, and it is the prime time to create your own personalised wand.

Next, collect ribbons, string, or threads. This is to bind the magic of the Buck Full Moon into the wand. Take the ribbon, string, or thread and have them ready to tie to the wand.
You can use one or you can use all; it’s your personal choice. As you tie the first piece tightly to the wand handle, in any way you choose, recite:
“By the knot of one, there is full moon magic to be done.”
Tie the second knot in any way you choose and recite:
“By the knot of two, this magic never undo.”
Tie the third knot in any way you choose and recite:
“By the knot of three, may my wishes be granted to me.”
Tie the fourth knot in any way you choose and recite:
“By the knot of four, may new opportunities knock on my door.”
Tie the fifth knot in any way you choose and recite:
“By the knot of five, encourage the path for me to thrive.”
Tie the sixth knot in any way you choose and recite:
“By the knot of six, you are now my wand, no longer a stick.”
Tie the seventh knot in any way you choose and recite:
“By the knot of seven, I bind the Buck Moon Magic here tonight. Give me understanding of what I need to focus on with second sight.”
Close your eyes and experience what is happening; some of you will hear and some of you will see. If you allow the experience and write notes afterwards, the understanding will be better than analysing in the moment.
To anoint the wand, sprinkle it with some salt and cinnamon, which represent the duality of light and dark as well as protection and attraction.
End the spell casting by saying “So mote it be,” “As it is,” or “Blessed be.” Your wand is now ready for any further decoration and to be used in rituals of your choice.
