Full Moon in Leo – 9th August 2025
The Full Moon is on the 9th August 2025 as is known as the Sturgeon Moon. It is the eighth full moon of the year and is named after the fish that swarm in the great lakes in Northern America.
The first nation tribes people lived with the knowledge that this was the best time to catch them as they swarmed in great numbers.
This Full Moon does have other names also such as: The Green Corn Moon, The Grain Moon and the Red Moon. Moon cycles were historically used as a time planner for hunters and gatherers.
On the 1st of August there was a pagan festival known as Lammas. The name means “Loaf mass” and again is indicating harvest time. The latter celebration marked the first harvest, named the grain harvest and was a time to give thanks for an abundance of wheat.
The Sturgeon Full Moon Magic
First we begin by creating a sacred space. Choose somewhere where you will no be disturbed. Put on some relaxing music, use mood lighting or a candle. Scent the area with a candle, wax melt or joss stick. Cleanse the atmosphere with chimes, sage or a selenite wand. Chimes, sage and the wand can be used by taking them to the four corners of your home. Begin the cleansing in the East then to the South then to the West and lastly to the North.
For the spell you will need paper, pens, red ribbon or red cord.
We begin our magic with a statement of gratitude.
On a loose piece of paper draw the shape of a horse shoe. The power animal associated with this Moon is the horse.
Inside the horseshoe list everything you are grateful for at this time. The words can be from something small like the delicious cake you ate to the wonderful employment opportunity. Fill the horseshoe completely.
When it is completed hold within your mind the sense of appreciation and joy around these words.
Next around the outside of the horseshoe all along the border list what you wish to manifest into your world. No request is too small or too big. When you have completed the words surrounding the horseshoe declare this:
“Under the Sturgeon Full Moon I draw down the magic to empower the spell that I write”.
As I read these words out loud I manifest into my life “read out loud all the words you have listed” tonight”.
End with “Blessed be or “So mote it be”.
Sign and date the spell, scroll it and tie it with a red ribbon or cord.
Place your scroll in the position of East.
At the next full moon open repeat again, then burn or bury your spell.
You are worthy and deserving of all you desire.
