Today’s New Moon phase is the last one of 2025, and takes place in the zodiac of Sagittarius, a Mutable Fire Sign. Sagittarius is ‘Freedom Loving and Optimistic,’ Mutable signs are ‘Adaptable and Shapeshifters,’ and Fire signs are ‘Courageous and Creative.’ As a New Moon is synonymous with new beginnings and manifestation, this final New Moon of the year will be a major cosmic influence when setting your expansive intentions for 2026 and beyond.
There are some interesting energies at play during this lunation, which occurs close to the Winter Solstice – so consider the following key themes and spiritual concepts to support and guide you, when choosing your intentions and desires for the new year.

RITUAL
12 MAGICAL NIGHTS
(It can begin around Winter Solstice 20th / 21st December, or Christmas Eve 24th December 2025)
You will need:
- 2 Sheets of Paper (pages from a notebook will do)
- Pencil or Charcoal to write with (nothing synthetic for burning)
- Bay Leaves or Post-it Notes (optional)
- An Envelope, a Box, or a Lidded Jar (for the storage of your 13 wishes)
To begin, write down 13 attainable wishes on one sheet of paper for manifestation in the new year. Your 13 wishes should be realistic, and specific – considering what each wish needs to come to fruition. For example :
- ‘I want to make new friends in 2026’ – then make a note of how you could achieve this wish, such as going to new places or joining group activities that will naturally introduce you to new people.
Repeat this process 13 times for all your wishes and intentions.
Next, draw a grid and number each section from 1 to 13 (you can use individual Bay Leaves or Post-it Notes if you prefer). Write key words of your wishes in each section (e.g. 1/ New Friends, 2/ New Job), then cut or tear the grid into 13 individual pieces big enough to fold. Fold each piece several times towards yourself to attract, saying ‘I am Open, I am Grateful, I am Magnetic!’. Place each of the 13 folded wishes into a vessel and store them. Ideally, have all your 13 wishes done by the end of December. Around the Winter Solstice or Christmas Eve, take 1 of the folded wishes (do not open or read it) and burn it safely, saying ‘It is done! Thank you!’
Repeat the burning of 1 wish per day, for a total of 12 magical nights. The burning of the unread pieces is a form of trust and faith in the Universe – knowing that your wishes and intentions are already taken care of. The 1 remaining wish is for you to open, read, and take care of yourself in the new year – like a pledge.
TIP: Remember to keep the first written wish list for future reference, so that you’ll know what to do with the 1 remaining wish that you are responsible for.

The New Moon phase is a powerful time for initiation, introspection, and manifestation – so it’s a perfect time to bring your desires, dreams, and ideas to life.
