Full Moon in Scorpio – 1st May 2026

The full moon is at the beginning of May, on May 1st. The Full moon is connected to the zodiac sign Scorpio.

It is called the Flower Moon and is represents the fertile ground and the flowering of spring bulbs and other plants. It has other names including: Hare moon, Corn planting moon, Milk moon & Frog moon. Each latter name is connected to fertility and growth.

There are 2 full moons in May so it is a very powerful time for magic. It is a common time to reflect and make new personal goals. When we do reflect it is so important to recognise the achievements and challenges you have faced and overcome.

The Full moon coincides with Beltane and the tradition of Maypole dancing. Just as the Flower Moon Beltane and Maypole dancing are both connected to fertility. Maypole dancing is not just a tradition is is also a practice of old magic. The hole that is dug for the pole is considered the cauldron, which is  representative of the woman’s womb. The Maypole is the phallus, when the pole is erected into the hole it is symbolic of new creation. The new creation or fertility can be between humans, animals or plants. The dance and ribbons bind the magic to cast the spell and create fertility.

Flower Moon Full Moon

You will need:

• Flower pot
• Some soil
• Some biodegradable ribbon or thin fabric strips ×2 (twice as long as the stick you use)
• Paper
• Pen

On the morning of the first of May go for a walk and venture into woodland spaces you have never been. Ask the trees and universe to grant you a stick. Never snap one off a tree, instead look on the ground and keep on, till one is revealed to you. The type of wood does not matter. Take it home with you.

When you get home, at a convenient time to you, tie the first ribbon or strips of fabric at the top of the stick. Fasten it with a knot so that the ribbon or thin fabric is the same length on either side. Then repeat with the second piece. Take your Flower pot and fill it with soil up to about 1 inch from the top. Poke the stick in the soil and compact the soil to hold in place, add more soil if required. Ensure the ribbons or thin strips of fabric are at the top of the stick. Place the flower pot with the stick in on a table, and sit in a chair for comfort.

Then begin by acknowledging all the goodness that has occurred in the year so far. You can write it down or hold it within your mind.

Recite:

In this moment I am grateful & smile
I recall the magical moments while
I connect to the full moon energy above
I am so thankful and full of self love

Then take the ribbons or fabric and weave them as you wish around the stick. When you have completed the weaving tie the ends so they do not unravel. Next consider within your mind what you wish to bring into your life, what you wish to grow or develop.

The growth I desire to flourish soon
Whatever I hold within my heart
This magical binding will start.

Leave the pot and newly created magic wand in the position of East inside the home or outside. Under the night of the full moon or within 2 days, plant the magic wand into your garden. You can have the stick showing or buried.

Recite:

In this moment under the Full moon  light 
I plant my desired intention tonight
May the magic grow
From this “seed” I sow

End the magic spell with
