Major Arcana
The Moon
The Moon
Number: 18
Astrological Association: Pisces
The Moon is one of the more complicated cards of The Tarot. Symbolically it is associated with the astrological sign of Pisces, the fish. It also symbolises the Moon Goddess, the mother and the feminine aspect of the human psyche. The Moon's connection to water is evident in the role it plays with the tides of the sea and it is used as a light source to guide those sailing on the night sea. The connection to water symbolises the connection to the unconscious mind and the wolves at the foot of the card reflect the primitive call of nature. Dreams, psychic ability and intuition dominate the energy of The Moon. However, care must be taken to remain grounded and to not become deceived from its reflective state.
In Love
For those in relationships, The Moon will deliver a wealth of emotions, some overwhelming, others confusing. Now is a time to understand what is going on at a much deeper level. If the relationship feels insecure then time to ground oneself and focus on the realities of what is going on would be advisable. The Moon can symbolise deceit or uncertainty or that a partner has become estranged from reality. If single, consider letting this phase pass and focus The Moon's energies on creative pursuits.
In Work
For those that possess artistic skills whether in poetry, music art or spirituality then now is a good time to get busy. The Moon will give the vision required for great creativity. In other aspects of work, if things are not feeling clear or that you feel you have been misled in some way, step back for a moment. Logic will be necessary to decipher what situation you are being faced with for you to act accordingly.
Negative Aspect
Living in a dream-like state. Preference to fantasy rather than reality.
