The Aura of Psychic Readings
Some view the Northern Lights as a sign of insight. The magical movement of colours in the evening sky could encourage self-reflection of one’s identity and position in the universe! This introspective journey can be further enhanced with psychic readings.
Psychic Auras
Look to the skies! The nighttime sky is full of beautiful, bright colours! What is going on? Is it something otherworldly or spiritual? Or is it something to do with aliens?! It sure is pretty to look at!
The recent Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis as it is technically known, were a surprising and, in most cases, a welcome sight to those of us in the UK! But what is it exactly?
Join us here at Psychic Today as we examine the myths, legends, and origins of this fantastic phenomenon, all while exploring how psychic readings can provide you with a deeper understanding of yourself and your place
Psychic Readings: Myths and Legends
Before it became known to most of us as the Northern Lights, Aurora Borealis originated from Aurora, the Roman goddess of dawn, and Boreas, the Greek god name for the north wind.
In Greek mythology, Aurora was the sister of Helios and Seline, the sun and moon, respectively. Early morning, she raced across the sky in her colourful chariot to warn her siblings of the coming day.
During the Viking era, the lights were revered as earthly manifestations of gods. The Norse people feared them, telling stories of their dangers and establishing superstitions for protection.
In Native American culture, the Aurora was considered part of life’s circle by Cree Indians. Accordingly, it represented the spirits of the dead who remained apart from their families in the sky.
The Magical Colours
Green – The most common aurora colour is green. The human eye is most sensitive to the green colour spectrum, so we see green auroras better than any other colour.
Red – Auroras with a red colour are rare and usually occur with intense solar activity. The higher edges of the display are more likely to display red auroras.
Blue & Purple – A few blue and purple auroras usually appear during periods of high solar activity and tend to be visible toward the lower parts of the display.
Yellow & Pink – These colours are typically associated with high solar activity and are considered rare. They result from an unusual mixture of red and green or blue auroras.
The Southern Lights
Also known as the Aurora Australis, it is derived from the Latin word austrālis, which translates to ‘Southern.’ These lights share the same hues as those found in the north, yet appear on the South Pole.
Accordingly, this is only seen in the northern and southern hemispheres during the summer and winter months. However, it remains as stunning as the Aurora Borealis!
