The New Moon in Libra offers us the opportunity to seek harmony, balance and fairness into our lives. Libra is the sign of justice and symbolised by the scales. It is also ruled by the element of air, which helps us to think, rationalise and intellectualise. Air signs are active and so it may come as no surprise that our own mindset may become overly stimulated with thoughts and ideas. Adding to this stimulating time is an annual solar eclipse which results in a “ring of fire” visible around the moon.

This eclipse is also conjunct Mercury, the planet of communication. You may find yourself in a state of information overload or taking part in intense discussions. Libra is also a very sociable sign, and their love of communication and co-operation makes them exceptionally popular guests and friends. Due to the changing of the season, many of us may feel a natural need to start hibernating away at home. Yet if we want to challenge this and start more sociable habits, now would be the perfect time to do this.

Libra is ruled by the planet of Venus. It should therefore be no surprise that this New Moon offers the opportunity to start looking for new love or to bring a fresh dynamic to current relationships. Diplomacy is a Libra trait which is to be welcomed to strained relationships, giving both partners the ability to understand the other person in ways not understood before. Talking things through and offering new ways of bringing harmony to partnerships is very likely to be successful under this influence.

For those at a bit of a crossroads in partnerships, the Libra New Moon will rationalise what is working well and against us, especially when considering the longevity of a relationship. Asking ourselves if our partner is in alignment with our own virtues will offer enlightenment on the amount of time and effort we put into current partnerships. This can also be seen in friendships and working relationships. Due to the diplomatic energy of Libra, we can expect understanding and consideration when it comes to making good and solid decisions. If that has not been the case, then expect a good turnaround under this influence and new ways of working as a team or in group settings.

The Sun and Moon also oppose the north node in Aries, causing our eclipse. This energy may feel as if we are being forced to make decisions at a rather rapid pace, pushing us act decisively. Instead of bounding forward with this, it would be advisable to sit in the moment and almost ride out the feelings of restlessness. Libra asks us to self regulate, breathe and take time to evaluate where our path would like to take us. Tuning into the energies of Libra, is to balance out what we think and feel in both our head and in our heart. This is what makes our behaviours and actions fair and right, therefore as a New Moon always allows time to seek intentions, doing this with full awareness can only give us satisfactory results.

During an eclipse, the intentions we speak carry even more weight and so it is even more important to use the Libra energy to seek balance and harmony when setting them. Do not be afraid to be overly peace-loving too, for fairness has to not only come from within, it must also come from influences around us too.
