Yes, that’s right – Four Mercury Retrogrades for 2022! It’s not unusual to have four instead of the usual three, but that is Mercury, and it’s retrograde for you, never really embraced as welcomed surprises!

This Retrograde
The sun sign of Capricorn brings us full circle back to the first Mercury Retrograde in January. Relationships are also brought full circle, with ex-partners potentially rearing their New Year heads!
A New Year has always possessed a reflective quality, but if you’re having a party, check those invites and times! Mercury loves to meddle! On the plus side, it can always be a time of fresh starts and new adventures.

What does Mercury Retrograde mean?
The Mercury Retrograde first came to prominence through mythology. Mercury was the messenger of the Roman Gods. These retrogrades usually last three weeks.
Retrograde comes from the Latin word ‘retrogradus‘, which translates as “backward step.” But of course, Mercury is NOT travelling backwards; it just appears to be!
Imagine two planets moving side by side. One moves slower than the other, giving the appearance of moving backwards against the faster-moving one!
The Mercury Retrograde Quadrilogy
So, there were four Mercury Retrogrades in total for 2022. Usually, there are three per year. Our astrologers say that although these retrogrades can bring frustrations, they can also be a good influence on us too.
The astral energy around this time can give us the renewed opportunity to see these from a new perspective or a different angle. This can be a positive influence on what we want!

- 10th May to 2nd June 2022.
- 9th September to 2nd October 2022.
- 29th December 2022 to 18th January 2023.
