Knitting Together Numerology Series: Looking At The Number 7 (seven)
Number Seven in Numerology is about self-reflection, introspection, knowledge, wisdom, truth-seeking, solitude, faith. Those with a life path number 7 (along with other number seven numerology chart placements) need quiet time – regular quiet time to rest and reflect; sitting in stillness to allow wisdom to come through. Numerology tells us number seven’s love to learn, are analytical but with a mystical twist. Sometimes they know stuff but don’t know how they know.
Life Path Seven
But fear not, the confirmation appears one way or another, often much to their own surprise. Hence the “I know right?!” or “I knew it all along”. They also need to develop faith in their fine-tuned minds. When we really know something, there is little need to prove ourselves or convince others. We say what we say, and that’s it. No challenges, no arguments. End of.
I remember when I started doing one to one in-depth numerology readings. Suddenly, I would get very nervous when someone had a life path 7. Thinking to myself “They already know everything; I don’t want to get it wrong!” But, funnily enough, over time, those 7’s were some of the most rewarding readings to give, with them being the best teachers as I learned to develop faith in my ability to give what is given without sugar-coating what was coming through and being respected for it. Sometimes the truth hurts as they say. But it only hurts the ego. When we go to a higher perspective, everything is happening following the universe, whether we fully understand or not, whether we like it or not.
We are all human with limited capabilities, and we learn to work at being the best we possibly can within those limitations. So, our limitations have the potential to become our greatest strengths. In the last blog (number 6) I talked about karmic lessons appearing where numbers in the name are missing. We also have karmic strengths where we have two or more occurrences of a number in our names.
Number Seven in Astrology
Libra rules the seventh house in western astrology. Libra is cardinal air, ruled by Venus. It likes balance and has a love of intellectual concepts/ideas (as opposed to Taurus, also ruled by Venus, but the earthy aspects). Libra energy likes a good debate with the truth (7) being the ultimate end to the conversation because as mentioned earlier, how do you argue with the truth? The seventh house represents the other as it is opposite the first house of self.
How do we learn about ourselves? From the other. They are merely a mirror reflecting an aspect of Self. One human to another – all from the same point of origin. By knowing another, you get to know yourself better and vice versa. Uranus, the planet of innovation and liberation, transits each sign for seven years. As it moves from one sign to another, the shift can be felt as new ways of being and evolving start to enter our awareness, leaving the energy of the previous sign until the next cycle. Finding out which sign it is in can help us understand which areas are going to be changing. We can then delve further into our personal chart to see in greater detail how to traverse this energy.
Number Seven in Letters
The letters that represent the number seven are:
G – seventh letter (7)
P – sixteenth letter (1 + 6 =7)
Y – twenty fifth letter (2 + 5 =7)
Having these letters in the name can indicate an analytical approach to things, seeing the finer details others may miss, even more so than the number four energy. Those whose name starts or ends with one of these letters will start or complete something in quite a fine-tuned way. They may seem reserved or shy, but they are just gathering and absorbing all the information coming to them from multiple sources at once.
Number Seven in Tarot
Talking of truth, the old archetype of fortune-tellers was one of a gypsy woman clad in a headscarf and large hoop earrings, peering mysteriously into a crystal ball. So, when I look at the letters G, P, Y I can’t help but associate it with the word gypsy in that context. Needless to say, readings have come a mighty long way since the days of old, whilst thankfully keeping the traditional tools intact—one of those traditional tools being tarot.
In tarot, we have two major arcana that represent the number seven.
VII – CHARIOT (journey)
XVI – TOWER (clearing)
The chariot and tower are both about moving forward. The depiction of the chariot showing that the truth is that we need both polarities to work together to reach a unified goal. The tower, a metaphor, for anything built on a shaky foundation (non-truth) will eventually give way. What is left is the stark truth. From this, we can re-build.
We have four minor arcana that represent the number seven:
(1) Seven of wands (courage)
(2) Seven of swords (truth)
(3) Seven of cups (options)
(4) Seven of pentacles (patience)
Number Seven Affirmation
Using the keywords, we can create the following affirmation/meditation for the number seven:
Having the patience and love in my heart to sit with and process all options presented gives me the courage to stand in my truth knowing that the universe is continually clearing all that no longer serves my highest good. The journey continues.
Number Seven in Yoga
In yoga, the seventh chakra is the crown chakra, also known as the Sahasrara chakra. It is connected to our spirituality – our knowing or cognizance. Our awareness of oneness bringing feelings of bliss and contentment – no judgement.
Yoga for the crown chakra (remember to choose that which is in alignment with your ability and capability of where you are now. Seek professional help if in doubt):
Shoulder stand (sarvangasana)
Rabbit (sasangasana)
Downward facing dog (adho mukha svanasana)
Corpse pose (savasana)
Standing mountain (tadasana)
Any inversion pose
Sitting/being in the stillness – particularly the early hours before sunrise.
Number Seven in Meditation
Here’s a meditation to try:
Surrendering to the Sound in Savasana
Lie in savasana however you can (adjust positioning using cushions, pillows, blankets etc. to make sure you can breathe comfortably—comfort over “perfect” posture. Posture will start to align naturally when you are comfortable and relaxed).
Allow the breath to flow naturally.
Let your body sink into the surface you are resting on.
Feel fully supported by Mother Earth.
As you surrender your body, so too allow yourself to surrender to the sounds that are brought into your awareness and energy field. They may be internal, external or both.
Allow yourself to become immersed in this energy for as long as is comfortable.
To return, start to deepen the breath, wiggle fingers and toes.
Open your eyes and slowly ease into a seated position.
Give thanks to the universe for the experience.
The Seven Year Cycle
In our seven-year by seven-year chakra cycle, we are in our seven-year crown chakra phase between the ages of 42-49 and 91-98. We are in our “double crown” chakra energy between the ages of 48-49 and 97-98. This is a phase where we start to know before we fully understand. 42-49 is a period where we go through our mid-life transits, including a Saturn opposition which can change how we view the world.
Our manifestation energy is at an all-time high, so a great phase for bringing in opportunities to try things you may not have had the chance to earlier on in life. The double crown chakra energy is powerful, so it is important to balance this by grounding in whatever way works for you. You may want to look at the sign your moon is in and works with that, using it as a means to balance your emotions.
Moon in Scorpio may benefit from connecting with fixed water through using ice in whichever way suits, taking baths, or swimming in a pool – all representations of a body of fixed water. Also, the next age (49-50) starts a new 49-year cycle which gives us a second helping of “double-base” chakra energy. So, between 48-50, we’re going through the crown to base. The more you can balance this energy, the easier the transition. There is also a fourth Jupiter return around age 48, and many will begin their Chiron return – a time for healing wounds and gaining a greater understanding of childhood traumas, however great or small. Being able to take control as an adult armed with the full spectrum of experiences that have got you to this point in life.
For those on the spiritual path, it’s a great opportunity for development rather than seeking romantic relationships (although those in themselves bring much development!). In fact, you may find relationships are challenging during this phase as so much knowledge, and wisdom and so many opportunities are coming to you. Remember though, as mentioned earlier, you’re only human. You’re not going to be able to do it all, and that’s okay. Be selective in your choices. Those who love and understand you will wait.
